Amazon Music Lot Party '26

The architectural constraints of our event space at Amazon Studios in Culver City were atypical. “The Spine” is a very narrow, very tall and extra long breezeway between 2 large office buildings. Unique challenges however, present unique opportunities. In any case, the path through the space would be linear attendee journey. All we had to do was be the guides.

Concept  + Design

Many of the early concepts were driven by otherworldly devices: molecular biology, interdimensional rifts, inorganic lifeforms (for lack of a better word—space stuff); but then we played our favorite game of... what if we did the opposite of all that?

Instead of adding more visual information, we simplified everything as much as possible. The last concept hit the nail on the head: large sheets would be draped from the tops of the office buildings and washed in the brand blue of Amazon Music. Think of it like a 500x75’ flag. By simplifying the visual field, we built a sandbox of 2D/3D space, light, sound and color.

Signage

Throughout the event, we designed and installed a series of beacons along the spine to guide guests to various activations. Each beacon featured a QR code that allowed attendees to scan and save curated Amazon Music editorial playlists.

Laser Harp

We designed an interactive laser harp installation — a MIDI-controlled instrument that let guests select from up to eight synthesizer patches to play in real time.
